2018 Pinot Noir Reserve, Willamette Valley
This wine was held over for an extra year for additional aging as an experiment. There were 7 barrels, 6 from our vineyard (Yamhill-Carlton) and 1 from Eola Amity Hills; it is composed of Pommard, 777 and 828 clones. The wine has had 28 months in barrel, it is higher in alcohol because it was such a hot year and also because it is concentrated some from aging. All of the barrels were neutral oak.
Aromas of blackberry, plum, caramel and dark chocolate, with flavors of dark cherry, cola, vanilla and caramel.
Roasted mushrooms and herbs, duck confit, pork tenderloin with a chest polenta, or a salmon filet grilled on a cedar plank.
Filet Mignon with mushrooms and Pinot Noir sauce.
