2017 Claret, Columbia Valley (Library)
This wine is one of our first "big reds" that we've produced and we're very happy with the results! This wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Merlot, and Malbec (25% each). The 2017 fruit from the Columbia Valley arrived slightly more ripe than the Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley and as a result this wine is very nicely balanced with intense fruit-forward flavors and aromatics. During barrel aging, the lees with stirred frequently to build silky texture in the wine.
Tasting Notes
An elegant and mature for its age nose of graphite, cedar, and clove. Enjoy a velvety mouthfeel that is full bodied, but accompanied by an acidity that prevents it from being weighed down. Lush flavors of cacao sprinkled on ripe juicy plums.
Food Pairings
Beef stroganoff, roasted turkey or duck, teriyaki chicken, stuffed mushrooms, and fire roasted root vegetables.
