Castles of the Rhine and Swiss Alps Wine Cruise Recap
It is hard to believe it has been nearly a month since our trip to Europe. Chris was invited by AmaWaterways and Sail Away Group Travel to be the wine host on a Rhine River wine cruise!
It was an amazing experience, and we highly recommend experiencing this at least once in your life.

Behind the Scenes
ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE
The AmaSerena was our home for 8 days. Our adventure included 3 days in Amsterdam, Netherlands, 8 days on the Rhine River (France, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland), and 3 days at Lake Como, Italy. We saw an abundance of beautifully vineyards, castles, and historical monuments while learning about the century’s long history of the respective regions.
Along the way we joined the rest of the guests for a wide array of included excursions, many of which were wine related! We tasted wine in a cave, saw the largest barrel ever use, and enjoyed a gondola ride over a beautiful vineyard to name just a few.
Our cruise manager and crew were friendly and knowledgeable, and the daily activities, excursions, and on-ship activities provided plenty to see and do.
FOOD & BEVERAGE
The food and wine in Europe was an absolute delight. The ship offered abundant wonderful food, and great regional wines.
When it came time to stop at the ports to enjoy different regions, there was plenty of delicious regional food to enjoy. You could even curate experiences of your own, which we took advantage of!
CABINS
The cabins were spacious, provided plenty of storage, and had spectacular views! The ship offers so many public spaces that very little of our time was spent in our rooms. We preferred to be on the sundeck or in the lounge.
OUR NEXT TRIP
Now for the big news! We had such a great time on the trip that we have already agreed to do it again! We will be hosting the “Gems of Southeast Europe” cruise starting November 9, 2026 on the AmaBella.
